What a pathetic joke! Cowboys boss Jerry Jones gets brutally slammed for not firing Mike M

Publish date: 2024-07-26

On Wednesday, Jerry Jones announced that Mike McCarthy will remain the head coach of the Dallas Cowboys for the 2024 season. The Cowboys owner remains optimistic that McCarthy still has a lot to offer the franchise.

There is great benefit to continuing the team’s progress under Mike’s leadership as our head coach.
Jones said yesterday

Despite the overwhelming outcry to see the back of McCarthy after crashing out in the wild card stage once again.

The Green Bay Packers came to AT&T Stadium and made a mockery of the Cowboys‘ impressive home win run of 16 games. McCarthy’s former team scored 48 points, the most by any NFL team in the 2023 season, in a game they were favorites to lose.

It meant Dallas’ search for a Super Bowl was postponed for another year. But their veteran owner didn’t put the blame solely on the head coach. To the 81-year-old’s eyes, everyone, including himself, had a part in the Packers’ defeat.

Our loss on Sunday is shared by everyone here, not just Coach McCarthy, players [Dak Prescott]. Our coaches [Dan Quinn] and front office. Myself. There is accountability for our results. I am accountable for our results.
Continuing further, Jones added

Statement from Cowboys owner Jerry Jones:

“I believe this team is very close and capable of achieving our ultimate goals and the best step forward for us will be with Mike McCarthy as our head coach. There is great benefit to continuing the team’s progress under Mike’s…

But that doesn’t mean fans who wanted McCarthy fired would positively welcome the news. More so after the other Texan franchise made it past the first round of playoff qualifiers.

Sharing a wide spectrum of reactions online, here’s what fans have to say:

My God. We will never win
Texans cleaned house and made it farther than us in 1 season. It's getting ridiculous man.

Just give him a 10 year extension then. come on Jerry, you that confident? If not he needs to kick rocks. My God I hate being a Cowboys fan.

I’ve been a cowboys fan since I was a little kid ( the end of the Staubach era, so about 45 years ). I will never root for the Cowboys again until Jerry is no longer the owner. Jerry Jones is the new Al Davis. This team will never win a championship again with him in control

One of the most pathetic things I have ever read. This is the ramblings of an old man who keeps yelling at the postal workers over the price of stamps going up. He just doesn’t understand why. https://t.co/dH10qhHASI

This is not the behavior of a serious franchise that is committed to winning. This owner refuses to believe he's not suited to be a GM. Until Jerry is gone, so am I. Can't continue to support this mess. https://t.co/Gusv5sQYnf

The reason behind Jerry Jones keeping Mike McCarthy as the Dallas Cowboys head coach

Consistency is the key in football. Jones initially hired McCarthy because of his pedigree as a Super Bowl-winning head coach with the Packers.

A championship, which he won at Arlington in 2011. Since his appointment, the 60-year-old has led Dallas to three consecutive 12-5 finishes, winning the NFC East twice.

He took over the offensive playcalling from Kellen Moore, who departed for LA and unleashed Dak Prescott. The Cowboys quarterback finished the 2023 regular season as the passing touchdown leader with 36 and only threw nine interceptions, forcing his name to be in the mix for MVP.

There are many layers of success that have occurred this season as a result of Mike’s approach to leading the team, both with individual players and with our team collectively.

Eventually, everything fell apart in the Packers game, where Prescott threw two first-half pick-6s. Despite the game being a playoff game, it was still one game that didn’t erase their regular-season dominance. Jerry Jones is aware of that.

While we’re all disappointed with the result on Sunday and with our playoff record, I am 100 percent supportive of him as our head coach and his ability to reach our goals.
He further added

Mike McCarthy will remain with the Cowboys for at least one season, or until Jones changes his heart. While that’s sorted, the next item on his to-do list would be whether to give Prescott a raise or move on from him, even though he has had high praise for the two-time Pro Bowler in the recent past.
