Pops Brittney Griner announces birth of new baby boy with wife

Brittney Griner, the Phoenix Mercury phenom, announced the birth of her son, Bash, with wife Cherelle. The WNBA star is all prepared to represent ‘the country that fought for me to come back’ in the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Brittney Griner followed it by saying that Bash, her son will understand as he is growing into a sports family. However, now she will have one more person to cheer for her as her wife Cherelle and son Bash, have arrived at the Olympics.

The Olympic gold medalist initially met the attorney at Baylor University. The pair reconnected later when Brittney split from her first wife, Glory Johnson. They tied the knot in June 2019 and have been inseparable since.

The duo celebrated their 6th anniversary together in March 2024. A month later they announced their pregnancy in April, welcoming their baby boy on July 8. Griner also admitted that she will be called ‘Pops.’

Brittney Griner all set for a strong comeback

Brittney Griner is all set and ready to be back on the ground competing “for the country that fought for me(Brittney) to come back“. Griner was detained in Russia on drug charges in 2022 for nearly 10 months. She was held in the Moscow airport with cannabis oil. The lawyers justified it by saying it was prescribed by the doctors for serious chronic pain.

After much struggle, she returned to the US after a prisoner exchange between the two countries. Cherelle Griner thanked President Joe Biden and the administration for helping secure her wife’s release and said she was “overwhelmed with emotions.”

Moving forward, the Paris Olympics 2024 will be the WNBA star’s third time competing for the gold medal. Brittney explained that this game will “100% mean more” as she will be representing a country that “literally saved my life“. She was WNBA All-Star in 2023, then again in 2024 averaging 18.3 points and 6.4 rebounds a night for the Phoenix Mercury.
