Idaho Transportation Department shared tips for when you encounter flooded roads:

  • Stay informed: Monitor weather updates and road condition reports.
  • Turn around, don't drown: Water may be deeper than it appears.
  • Observe road signs: Pay attention to signs or barricades indicating road closures due to flooding.
  • Don't underestimate the power of water: Never attempt to drive through moving water, such as flooded rivers or streams. The force of the water can sweep away vehicles and endanger lives.
  • Report hazards: Your alertness can help prevent accidents and ensure the safety of others.
