Born on March 3rd, 1998 in St. Louis, Missouri to parents Brandy Cole and Justin Tatum, Jayson did his schooling from Chaminade College Prep School where he churned out an excellent high school career, averaging as many as 29,6 points in addition to 9.1 rebounds, paving his way to the state championship. He also bagged the 2016 Gatorade National Player of the Year Award, post which he played college basketball for the Duke Blue Devils for what transpired to be a triumphant season for the 6ft 8 forward. Taytum ultimately declared for the 2017 NBA draft after his successful stint with the Devils.
NBA and National Team debut
Boston Celtics: Celtics picked Taytum 3rd overall on June 22nd, 2017 for the 2017 NBA draft. His debut with the team saw Taytum record a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds as his side’s starting power forward in what was a 102-99 loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers.
National team: Apart from taking part in the 2014 FIBA Under-17 World Championship and 2015 FIBA Under-19 World Championship, Taytum represented Team USA at the 2016 Nike Hoop Summit as well.
