Boise teen orphaned in tragedy, community rallies to fund future
BOISE, Idaho (CBS2) — 14-year-old Liam Johnson suddenly lost both parents in the last month. His mother, Ami Beattie Janes, passed away on Thanksgiving evening, and his father, Lars Adam Johnson, was struck and killed while walking in Boise.
Lars' family is from Louisiana, and his father and sister in Boise are finalizing plans to have Liam move to Louisiana. Liam's grandfather, Sheldon Johnson, will take custody of him. A GoFundMe has been created to raise funds to helpmeet Liam's needs for his future well-being, quality of life, mental health and education.
The GoFundMe says Adam and Ami's families will surround Liam with love and support, but he understandably faces a long road of healing, adjustment and a new vision of his future.
