A 43-year-old mother was taken into custody Monday after their 8-year-old child called 911 to report their reckless driving to authorities.

On August 25 officers with the police department were alerted to a blue Subaru driving recklessly through red lights, traveling on Beltline towards Springfield, according to the Springfield Police Department.

Officials said the Subaru was reported by an 8-year-old child inside the vehicle, who told 911 that their mother, identified as 43-year-old Camie Sorensen, was driving recklessly and looking for "water to drive into."

An officer positioned themselves in the Gateway area, in the event that the Subaru entered Springfield.

SPD says the Subaru passed the officer, yielded at a red light before speeding off when the officer attempted to pull her over.

The Subaru continued to drive erratically southbound on Pioneer Parkway West, said police, weaving through traffic dangerously before making an abrupt stop in the middle of the Pioneer Parkway & Q Street intersection; at that point officers approached the vehicle.

Two police officers with the department took Sorenson into custody while a third officer retrieved the 8-year-old who'd called 911.

SPD says Sorensen was lodged at the Lane County Jail on the following charges:
